Irrevocable Living Trusts

Protect Yourself, Your Family and Future Generations

Irrevocable Living Trusts Ensure
Family Security and Personal Philanthropy

An irrevocable living trust will benefit you, your family, and MHDF - not only tomorrow but for generations to come.

A popular form of living trust is the charitable remainder Unitrust. A Unitrust is a trust in which you have irrevocably placed money or property and under the direction of your trustee, pays a lifetime income to yourself or someone else named. The income is set as a fixed percentage of the trust’s value. The amount paid may change from year to year. When the income beneficiary (the person receiving the income) dies, the property remaining (or the "remainder") passes to MHDF.

By designating MHDF as the remainder beneficiary you provide yourself with a charitable deduction for income tax purposes. There are other benefits. Depending on your needs, your planning can encompass: generating increased income for your family, income for retirement, tax-free income, or financial support for a friend or relative; tax savings in capital gains tax avoidance or estate tax savings; financial planning through professional management of your funds and building an inflation hedge; and reduced estate settlement costs.

Create A Better World
Your living trust provides you with a wonderful opportunity to support MHDF in various ways:

Ongoing Gifts. You can direct the trustee of your trust to make annual charitable contributions. These gifts will entitle you to charitable deductions on your personal tax return.

Death distributions. Your trust can distribute gifts upon your death. It can function similarly to a will, by directing that we receive particular assets, an fixed amount of cash, or a specified percentage of your estate.

Financial security for your family. You can establish that part or all of your living trust be converted upon your death into a "charitable remainder trust" which will make lifetime payments to a family member, while securing the future operations of MHDF. This gift can significant reduce estate taxes and may actually leave your survivors more financially secure.
