Care of Residents in an Emergency
During an emergency, a critical resident, or a resident who is mentally disturbed may be
transferred to the hospital. Transfer of the resident is made upon orders from a physician.
Appropriate services are obtained for difficult to manage residents, such as counseling,
medication, therapy, etc. by the resident's physician or the physician on call. Residents are
transferred to appropriate facilities as determined by the attending physician or medical
director or during an emergency.
Mail
Mail is picked up from the post office and delivered to each resident Monday through Saturday.
Transportation
Transportation is provided for local appointments.
Clothing
All clothing belonging to residents, including undergarments, must be labeled. When purchasing
new garments for residents or during admission, all clothing will be sent to the Laundry
department for labeling. Delicate items will be specially labeled.
Notification of Changes
There are appropriate written policies and procedures relating to notification of responsible
persons in the event of significant changes in resident status and resident charges. The family
will be notified when there is a significant change in the resident's health status.
